BASICS and iCHAMP

What is BASICS and iCHAMP?

A program for students to explore their own behavior related to substances like alcohol and cannabis, while working to reduce risky behaviors and potential consequences. Both programs are guided by trained staff associated with the Wellness Resource Center.

Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students (BASICS) is a harm reduction program designed to assist students in examining their own drinking behavior in a judgment free environment. This program is not an abstinence-only program. The purpose is for students to set attainable goals, in the hopes of reducing risky behaviors and potential harmful consequences.

BASICS utilizes a motivational interview format, in a 1-to-1 setting

Individualized College Health for Alcohol and Marijuana Project (iCHAMP) is a harm-reduction program that aims to help students make smart decisions surrounding cannabis in a judgement free zone.

Conduct Sanction Steps

If you received a sanction from the Office of Student Accountability and Support, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Review your decision letter that was sent to your email. If you cannot find your letter, contact the Office of Student Accountability and Support.
  2. Sign up through MU Connect, following the steps found in your decision letter.
